Level 99 Games

Here are some more preview cards for the quick-and-dirty free-for-all card brawl Seven-Card Slugfest, available end of July according to the Level 99 Games online shop. I may have fallen in love with the Big Bluff card, I don’t know why myself. It’s such an easy way of deception, yet so effective.

Fantasy Flight Games

After the detailed previews for Elder Sign: Unseen Forces of the last few weeks, you now have the chance to check the rulebook yourself in all its eldritch sqamousness.

It’s been a while since we heard about the Labyrinth of Ruin expansion for Descent: Journeys in the Dark. But now the preview posts are back, and the two new classes look fun to play. They both have their own way of doing things, you can’t mistake them for a copy of an existing class.

Hey, you know what didn’t get any expansions lately? Cosmic Encounter! This will soon be fixed, however, by Cosmic Storm, which will contain not only 25 new alien races to play but also the all new Space Stations, one of which comes for free with your home planet and gives you another special ability for the game. More in-detail previews are certain to follow soon.

Toy Vault

We’ve all been waiting with bated breath for more information about the Firefly boardgames in the making. Well, here it is, at least some of it. Firefly: Out to the Black looks to be a cooperative game where each player takes the role of one of Serenity’s crew members and teams up to go on missions against the show’s various threats in search for money and honour, two rare resources out here in the Black.

Privateer Press

Just when I think the deck-building craze has died down, two more are coming from an unexpected direction: Privateer Press announced two such games based on their popular miniature games called Warmachine: High Command and Hordes: High Command. In both games you’ll lead one faction of the respective mini game through their war effort. Both games will be playable on their own or together and each faction already with a custom deck, so we’ll have to wait and see what you will add in the actual building of the deck.

White Goblin Games

White Goblin’s first announcements for 2013 titles both concern Rattus games. Rattus Cartus: Nobilis is the first expansion to the card game Rattus Cartus and includes new buildings and some special cards, but going by the name the focus is on the nobles which come with the expansion, influential folks you want to keep on your side for a chance to be elected King! The newest expansion for the original Rattus goes by the name Rattus: Mercatus and introduces money to the game for the first time. The 12 new character cards either produce goods, or sell them, or use the money for special actions. Oh, or steal it, of course. Where there’s money, there’s thiefs. And then, if that’s not enough, there’s also Rattus: Arabian Traders that builds on both Rattus and Mercatus and gives you the option to add Rattus: Africanus as well. All the Rattusses in one game! Imagine the chaos! (via Board Game Geek News)

Alderac Entertainment

That’s what I get for relying on my RSS feeds, I miss important announcements on Facebook. Like the next Smash Up expansion. This one is especially important because the next expansion is The Obligatory Cthulhu Set, and you know how I am about everything Cthulhu. And the set goes all out on Cthulhuness, all four new factions are based on Lovecraft’s Mythos: the Cthulhu Cultists, the Elder Things, Innsmouth and Miskatonic University. This is going to be fun.
