Welcome to the jungle we’ve got fun and games. It’s a little known fact that Guns N’ Roses recorded this song in just one take, with no written music or lyrics, after trying an early prototype of Reiner Knizia’s The Quest for El Dorado. Yeah, those guys are gamers, too.

The Quest for El Dorado packs everything the lyrics promise. There’s quite a lot of jungle, because that’s where the fabled city of El Dorado happens to be. And there’s a lot of fun and games for the whole family, because El Dorado is a family deck building game with enough fun in the box to earn a nomination for the 2017 Spiel des Jahres.

Then all the robots go and have fun on the fair rides. There’s a lot of money to be made for you as a fair owner, that’s for sure. If you can just attract the right crowd.

“Light dice game” usually implies lots of rolling and very little influence over who wins the game in the end, it’s just whoever rolls better. Not so in Blueprints. There are many dice, sure enough, but you don’t roll them all that much and if you win or not depends less on how you roll them and more on how you use them.

A game as old as bone. It’s not an expression I get to use a lot, since we review the newest games we can find. But in the case of Oss, it’s not wrong, because Oss is based on the old, old game of Jacks. The game where you throw sheep bones in the air and pick up other sheep bones before you catch the first one again. But don’t worry, Oss is the more hygienic variant of that, and you don’t have to worry about being haunted by ovine spirits, either.

Mush! Mush! – Snow Tails 2

Five years ago, the Lamont Brothers created a racing game with an uncommon setting. Snow Tails wasn’t about racing cars, motorcycles, speedboats or spaceships, it was about racing dog sleds. This year, they’ve returned to mushing with Mush! Mush! – Snow Tails 2, a new racing game that uses the same basic mechanics but is different enough to make it exciting again. And, as you expect from Fragor Games, it looks great as well.
