  • Steam Park

In Roboburg, the robotic inhabitants work every day of the year, without vacations, without weekends. Except for six days every year when the robo fair comes to town. Then all the robots go and have fun on the fair rides. There’s a lot of money to be made for you as a fair owner, that’s for sure. If you can just attract the right crowd.

  • Evolution: The Origin of Species

Evolution is one of the more vicious card games out there – eating your opponents animals is a great survival strategy. But the game’s author is a biologist by trade, so at least it is scientifically acurate viciousness.

  • Quarto

An abstract strategy game by Gigamic from 1991. The rules are explained in about 2 minutes, but that doesn’t mean the game is easy to play. Expect to put some brain juice in order to win.

  • Crows

Crows is a game about crows. And shiny objects. It’s a game that has crow meeple, and many chances to screw your opponents out of points they thought were safe already. It’s also a game that has crow meeple, did I mention that?

  • K2

Mountaineering is not much used as a theme in boardgames. After trying K2, I really wonder why because it’s tense, exciting and deadly. There are no empty moves here, every turn has important decisions. A worthy nominee for Kennerspiel des Jahres 2012?

  • Wizard

I doesn’t actually take a lot of rules to create a great game. A very small set of simple rules plus one minimal twist is all it takes. A minimal twist like requiring you to predict the future. Welcome to Wizard.

  • Small Star Empires

The final frontier… Space. The last remaining adventure, vast and (mostly) unexplored. We could go on about rogues, treks and storm troopers, towels, the Force and Lord Helmet – but today we would rather focus on a less mainstream but without a doubt worthy item: Milan Tasevski’s short and easy-to-learn, but still very replay-worthy Small Star Empires.

  • Dominant Species

Dominant Species is on the upper end of long and heavy games for us – not something you unpack at the end of the gaming night, just before people go home. There is a lot of depth and a lot of detail to explore here.
