  • Onitama

    There once was an onmyo master, a teller of fortune and summoner of spirits. This onmyo master had two children, both thinking only they deserve to inherit his title. And so the two children fight, with the spirits they summon, over who is the greater summoner and thus deserving of the title. That’s the short story behind the Onitama, an abstract game that barely takes longer than telling its story.

  • Shakespeare: The Bard Game

    Some games are not created to entertain boardgamers, they are made to add some spice to some other hobby – usually, those games are either trivia games or roll-and-move races. Shakespeare: The Bard Game goes beyond that and creates an actual game around those two elements.

  • Tichu

But that’s exactly what you’re going to do in Eight-Minute Empire: carve your name into the world, in mile high letter, in eight to twenty minutes. That’s shorter than your court-appointed painter will take to paint your regal countenance.

  • Rococo

    Games about making dresses are a tough sell. Between games about conquest, economic success and survival, tailoring just doesn’t compare. So to stand out, a game about making ballroom gowns needs to excel in other areas. Having well linked games mechanics and a new take on deck-building might do the trick for Rococo.

  • Undercover

    The life of a secret agent is tough. We know from James Bond’s biographical movies about the large number of people who to kill you while megalomaniac villains try to either kill everyone, enslave everyone or just take everyone’s money. But those movies gloss over the hardest part of the job: keeping track of who is who, and who they are working for. You think it’s easy, working with a bunch of double agents who all look the same because they wear stupid hats and trench coats and only meet in dark corners, anyway? Well, think again after you accidentally pass that briefcase to the wrong guy. He looked just like the right guy, but when he said “Thank you” you realized he was talking with the wrong stereotypical villain accent. But no more! With Undercover Doris and Daniel Danzer will help you understand just how hard the secret agent life is on your memory.

  • Ticket to Ride

    Ticket to Ride (here in the German edition “Zug um Zug”) has become a classic in the few years since it was first released. It spawned many variants that play on different maps and add new mechanics.

  • Smash Up

    The ultimate question about life, the universe and everything can finally be answered. Who would win in a fight, Pirates or Ninjas? 42. Sorry, doesn’t make sense after all. But at least you can answer all the other big questions as well. Dinosaurs or Robots? Aliens or Zombies? All that and more now has an answer, and the answer is Smash Up.

  • Odyssey -Wrath of Poseidon

    Nothing is easy when the gods are against you. Especially not getting home across the sea when the god in question is Poseidon. And even less when Poseidon is a friend from whom you just stole the last piece of pizza. That’s the setup of Odyssey – Wrath of Poseidon: up four players are Greek navigators on their way home, one player is Poseidon who feels slighted by the Greek’s victory at Troy. Together, they play an asymmetric deduction game.

  • Pickomino

    Not every game can be a brain-twisting, deeply strategic game. A gaming evening/weekend/vacation needs the fillers, the quick, light games that nevertheless everyone enjoys. And that’s where Pickomino, a game that you wouldn’t expect to show up in a serious gamer’s play time, has its niche.

  • Milestones

    The Plains of Triangles. Undiscovered land. With nothing but a cart full of milestones and a group of builders we set out to bring civilization to the uninhabitet land. We’re not really going anywhere, but we put the infrastructure in place for the people that come after us, that will settle the Plains of Triangles and will go somewhere.

  • Qwirkle

    Qwirkle is one of those incredibly easy games. You explain it in about five minutes. Even on their first game, new players can grasp the strategy. Nevertheless, Qwirkle is a game that requires some thought – a combination that often doesn’t work out.

  • Chrononauts

    Remember history lessons from school? Yeah, me neither. Too many dates to remember. So how about we just go and mix up history until it matches the answers that we thought were right?

  • Andromeda

That is your business in Broom Service, but the competition is tough and you won’t have time to let your brooms cool down before the day is over. So keep a close eye on what your opponents are doing and use your witches and druids to deliver the most potions before the game is over.

  • Sanssouci

    Sanssouci, a palace in Potsdam near Berlin, Germany. It’s famous for it’s beautiful gardens, and those gardens are what Michael Kiesling wants you to recreate in the game named Sanssouci. But it’s not about their beauty, their symmetry or even their completion. All you care for is: how far down the garden paths can someone walk?
