Well, you’re not going to let them have it without you, and if you have to get rid of your wealth and your good reputation to join them, then so be it. That’s why you and some equally rich and dimwitted friends started the Prodigals Club, a contest of who can most effectively ruin their future.

  • Souvlaki Wars

    The restaurant business is harsh and the competition is fierce. This city is not big enough for more than one souvlaki restaurant. Souvlaki Wars is more peaceful than the name sounds, but not much.

  • 7 Wonders: Duel

    Mighty empires are fighting for supremacy over the ancient world. But where once up to seven empires where in contest, now there are only two. 7 Wonders: Duel condenses the action of 7 Wonders into a two player game, playing in two being the one weak spot 7 Wonders always had. To make that happen, many things had to change, but the game remains the same.

  • The Palaces of Carrara

    The city of Carrara has been famous for its marble since Roman times. It’s been used, by people who can afford it, all over the empire. In The Palaces of Carrara, you don’t take it quite so far, the furthest your marble travels is about 100km down the coast. But you wouldn’t want it to go further, anyway, because that short distance already gives you enough to consider if you want to win in this game, because for a game of only about 60 minutes, it sure keeps you busy.

  • Thunderstone Advance: Numenera

    Fantasy, in board games, often means “inspired by Dungeons & Dragons”. Until now, that was true for Thunderstone as well. But the Numenera RPG, and the Thunderstone box based on it, offers a very, very different brand of fantasy. You’d be happy to find something as simple as a dragon here.

  • Codinca

    Abstract games don’t have to be long and complex to be good, Codinca shows that it’s perfectly possible to make am abstract that you can teach in five minutes, play in thirty, and still have a great time the whole time.

  • Rococo

    Games about making dresses are a tough sell. Between games about conquest, economic success and survival, tailoring just doesn’t compare. So to stand out, a game about making ballroom gowns needs to excel in other areas. Having well linked games mechanics and a new take on deck-building might do the trick for Rococo.

  • Tokaido – Collectors’ Edition

    Usually, when a game is about traveling a road, you win by arriving first at the destination. Of course racing is fun, but it’s not the only way to travel. Sometimes, going slowly and enjoying the trip is what you should be doing. Antoine Bauza’s Tokaido rewards that type of travel, here the winner is the player who had the richest experience along the way. That makes Tokaido very different from a racing game, and in the best way, too.
