  • Small World Underground

“The world is getting smaller” is a quote that gets thrown around a lot these days. The people saying it must have missed the implications of being in a really small world. As in: a really Small World. It’s not a very peaceful place. And even escaping underground for lack of space, does not bring you peace, because Small World Underground is just as ruthless as the original.

  • Shadows over Camelot

What is your name? – Sir Meepalot.
What is your quest? – The search for the Holy Grail.
What is the poker hand you need to beat me? – I don’t know tha AAARRRGGH!
And it is through the magic of the internet that you have been reading this text in Monty Python voices inside your head. Oh, you wanted to know about Shadows over Camelot?

  • Power Grid: The First Sparks

For the 10th anniversary of the legendary Power Grid, designer Friedemann Friese came up with something special: he transported the games mechanics to the Stone Age. Gone are the days of burning coal, now you go hunt mammoths.

  • Concept

Do word guessing games all feel the same to you? I can promise you, this one won’t. You’ll still be guessing words, it wouldn’t be a word guessing game otheriwse. But how those words are explained for you to guess is new and, actually, pretty awesome.

  • Final Frontier

Expensive game components, the final frontier for board game publisher. These are the games of Victory Point Games. Their continuing mission: to bring you new games, to seek out new authors, new genres, to boldly ship their games in a ziploc bag.
You guessed it, Final Frontier is a science fiction game that keeps referencing a certain TV series. But is a good theme and paper components in a ziploc game enough to make a great game?

  • The Game

This is the game you will never find on Google. Because the name of the game is The Game, and that’s just not very distinctive. The Game is a cooperative card game that was nominated for the 2015 Spiel des Jahres. It’s small and abstract, but that doesn’t say anything about how much fun it is.

  • Loch Ness

Fog still lies over the Loch, the early morning was silent a minute ago. Now, the silence is disturbed by a stampede of photographers, running around the lake, setting up their cameras. Because, once more, Nessie has been spotted, and all the papers want the best photos.

  • Targi

The Sahara desert. Wide, open spaces. You can travel for days without meeting another soul. So why is it that, when playing Targi, there are always people standing where I want to go? Always. Every single turn. But they are complaining about the same thing, so it’s perfectly balanced.
