  • Theseus: The Dark Orbit

In space, no one can hear you scream. Which is a shame, because the frustrated screams of your opponents really are fun. And you’d have plenty of opportunity to hear them in Theseus: The Dark Orbit if it wasn’t set in space. A simple movement rule that gives your opponent the chance to influence where you can and can’t go is the basis for a tense science fiction game that would have Sigourney Weaver seriously worried about her chance to survive.

  • Dixit 2

Sometimes, game expansion are best when they change nothing at all. If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it, as they say.
Is this nugget of wisdom true for Dixit 2?

  • Disaster on Everest

Another trip up the world’s highest mountain, this time with a questionable travel ageny. After all, they must have known the storm was coming and could kill some clients.
But you, the heroic guide on the mountain, will try to keep them alive – and still get them up the mountain so the agency doesn’t fire you. Good luck.

  • Colt Express

A train robbery can really ruin your day if you’re one of the passengers. Six bandits trying to rob your train at the same time, but working against each other? With a Marshal thrown in ot fend them off? That’s actually pretty hilarious to watch. And on the gorgeous 3D train of Colt Express, it’s even more fun. All of the chaos, in three dimensions.

  • Sushi Go!

Contrary to most places you go to eat now, modern sushi was originally a type of fast food if Wikipedia is to be believed. It’s thus very fitting that Sushi Go! is a fast food type of game: you play it quickly, with no preparation needed, and then you go back for a second helping. Unlike fast food, however, you don’t have to feel guilty after Sushi Go!, it makes you neither fat nor sick, only entertained.

  • Monty Python Fluxx

Some people don’t like too much randomness in games. Those people better stop reading now, because we’re talking about Fluxx. Fluxx is slightly more random than getting up in the middle of the business meeting yelling “CAULIFLOWER” … while wearing a wombat suit. And this here is not just any Fluxx, iiiiiiiiit’s MontyPython’s Flying Fluxx Game!

  • Blokus

Yet another easy, quick and very clever game: your only goal in Blokus is to place all your tiles on the board, and the only restriction is that they must touch your other tiles, but only by a corner. Oh, and three other people are trying to do the same and get in your way.

  • Thunderstone Advance: Numenera

Fantasy, in board games, often means “inspired by Dungeons & Dragons”. Until now, that was true for Thunderstone as well. But the Numenera RPG, and the Thunderstone box based on it, offers a very, very different brand of fantasy. You’d be happy to find something as simple as a dragon here.
