  • i9n

i9n, or "Information" is a deduction game that uses punch cards to give new, hidden information during the game. It also adds some strategy and a bit of luck to the mix, making it a very fun game that certainly won’t be the last one to employ this new mechanic.

  • Discworld: Ankh-Morpork

Space. The Final Frontier. These are the adventures of giant turtle Great A’tuin, her four elephant companions standing on her shell and the millions of people living on the world they carry. This is the Discworld, and that muddy brown spot over there is Ankh-Morpork, home to a million people and more drama than any other city in the multiverse.

  • Friday

For years, the man Friday has lived alone on his island. But when Robinson was washed up on the beach, Friday’s peace was disturbed by this clumsy foreigner. He set out to train him to be able to get off the island again. In training Robinson, Friday was still alone. As are you in this game.

  • Smash Up

The ultimate question about life, the universe and everything can finally be answered. Who would win in a fight, Pirates or Ninjas? 42. Sorry, doesn’t make sense after all. But at least you can answer all the other big questions as well. Dinosaurs or Robots? Aliens or Zombies? All that and more now has an answer, and the answer is Smash Up.

  • P.I.

A black-and-white scene. A gloomy office, a frosted glass door. Dusk is falling onto the metropolis outside the windows, police sirens and unidentifiable scents wavering through the reddening light of night falling. Behind the desk sits a man in shirts and trench coat, his hat on the wardrobe next to the door. A private eye by trade and complexion. Suddenly, a knock on the door, it opens and a stunning woman with a red dress and an air of titillation enters… that’s a typical day in the life of a classic film noir detective, and one that you can participate in when playing Martin Wallace’s P.I.

  • Machi Koro

City building games don’t have to be big and complex, Machi Koro proves that. All you need to build your city are two dice, some cards and about half an hour of time. You couldn’t take anything away from this game and still call what is left a game. But even being that light, Machi Koro is published and popular in more countries than most games ever see.

  • Papà Paolo

Naples, the birthplace of pizza, is being invaded. Local businesses selling pizza are under attack by a foreign product: French Fries. Papà Paolo, the master pizzaiolo, is obviously offended by foreign food trying to take over his city. Up to four up-and-coming pizza bakers compete to become the great baker’s successor in Papà Paolo. They don’t actually beat back invading fried potatoes, but they will build their own, little pizza empire. And in the end, that’s what really counts, right?

  • Caylus

Caylus is not quite the first worker placement game, but it did did its part in making the mechanic popular. But Caylus adds many things beyond that, the options can feel a bit threatening at times.
