News are picking up a bit again now that Essen is two weeks gone, but still it’s slow business. Not that I’m complaining right now, we still have a big pile of games to go through…
To start us off this week, we have a new instalment from the Civilization designer’s diary. Sadly, the series is slowly drawing to an end, but before that we get to hear about war. The rotating unit cards are a clever way to handle unit upgrades. I still have a hard time getting a handle on how complex the game will be in the end, hopefully I get a chance to play it and find out soon.
Ystari brings us a free mini-expansion for Mousquetaires du Roi, adding Tréville, Captain of the Musketeers, as an additional character and enabling 6-player games.
More expansions are coming from Steve Jackson Games: Munchkin Quest gets Portal Kombat and Illuminati gets Mutual Assured Distraction.
The header photo this week shows one of the mosques of Timbuktu, Mali (if my Wikipedia skills didn’t desert me, this is Sankore Mosque, but correct me if I’m wrong) and was taken by Emilio Labrador, who was kind enough to share it on Flickr under a Creative Commons license. See the original here.
