  • Invaders

The date is December 8 2127, and for exactly a year and a day, Earth has been at war. They came from deep space, no one is sure what their plans with Earth are. But we know one thing: those plans don’t involve us.

  • Russian Railroads

Russian Railroads is a European optimization game, subtype worker placement. Every game, you try to do better than the one before, optimize your strategy and score a bit higher. But it’s not a typical game of the genre. Where you often have a lack of options in other such games, only one or two routes to victory which you try to use as well as you can, Russian Railroads gives you many different, viable ways to score. Its many moving parts create a fascinating whole that will let you find new ways to a higher score for a long time.

  • Masters of Commerce

Everywhere you look lately, the news are about the economy. It’s boring , like a roller coaster you’re not allowed to ride. Masters of Commerce allows you to experience the same roller coaster, but instead of finding a bridge when you lost everything, you can have fun going bankrupt.

  • Evolution: The Origin of Species

Evolution is one of the more vicious card games out there – eating your opponents animals is a great survival strategy. But the game’s author is a biologist by trade, so at least it is scientifically acurate viciousness.

  • Docker

Small and quick games – we don’t write about them much just because they are small and quick. But we all play them. Between other games. Before dinner. Sitting in a pub waiting for people to show up. And then, sometimes, we do write about them.

  • Columba

Rearing pidgeons is such a peaceful, placid hobby, isn’t it. A game about it must be full of zen, a meditation exercise with tiles. Wrong! Columba is a very interactive tile laying/area control game with lots of options to mess with your opponents.

  • 7 Wonders

Despite what the title implies, 7 Wonders is not a civilisation building game but a very strategic card game that only reveals it’s depth after a few plays, and then some. Enough to win awards left, right and centre. And the best part? You can play in 30 minutes!

  • Haggis

Haggis the card game has about as much to do with the Scottish national dish as Tichu the Chinese card game has with China. Haggis the card game does have a whole lot to do with Tichu the card game, but with enough differences to make it an interesting game although you might know Tichu already.
