  • Sigismundus Augustus

Long, deep and historical games are not uncommon, but they usually focus on war. Sigismundus Augustus goes a different route, it’s all about Polish Politics under the King with the game’s name. A completely different type of challenge, but just as tricky to win. But how much fun is history without bloodshed?

  • Strike Dice

Strike Dice is a game that promises epic conflict and adventure. After all, there are monsters on the box and the game board shows the conflict of Good vs. Evil. Also of Sight vs. Hearing, a conflict that recieves too little attention these days.

  • Keyflower

In 1620, a ship full of brave meeples set sail to cross the ocean and build a new life in the new world. These meeples who crossed the ocean on the Keyflower built a number of settlements competing for everything, including the buildings their settlements may have. In their first year, these meeples created their new lives.

  • 7 Wonders: Babel

7 Wonders is still one of the most popular games out there. Simple rules, quick to play even with 7 players, different every time you play. It’s no wonder the expansions keep coming. They might not necessarily improve the game, just because it’s very good already, but they add enough to keep 7 Wonders interesting even after many, many games played. Babel is the latest expansion, and the one that changes the game the most yet.

  • 1984: Animal Farm

The new world leaders after the 1984 revolution: Pandas, Eagles, Frogs, Bears and Pigs. You may or may not be surprised to learn that, other than the species, nothing has changed. The world is struggling in a five-way Cold War, permanently on the brink of thermonuclear destruction, and your goal in this game is not to save the world and bring lasting peace – except maybe by eliminating the competition. 1984: Animal Farm may be one of the games least conductive to maintaining friendship since Diplomacy.

  • Kalua

It’s not easy being a god. Unless you already established monotheism, then it’s all easy sailing. But to get there, some hard work will be necessary. Summoning tornados and tsunamis, ensuring a good harvest for your people and fighting the eternal danger of atheism, it’s all in a days work for a god.

  • Kilt Castle

From haggis to caber toss, Scotland is full of traditions that seem odd to an outsider. But the oddest tradition has recently been discovered by Günter Burkhardt: when the Scots build a castle for their clan, it’s not a collaborative effort like you would expect. Every builder wants floors in his or her own color to top of all the tower. The resulting castle is neither very hospitable to live in nor does it have great defensive value, but it is a home for your clan, and someone made a lot of money building it.

  • Linja

A very short game, with rules that can be explained in about two minutes, materials you can carry in your coat pocket that still manages to look good and offers some depth? It does exist, and it’s called Linja.
